KVK Participates in Pokkali Farmer-Scientist Face-to-Face Interaction Program

On February 22, 2024, ICAR KVK Ernakulam actively participated in the Pokkali Farmer-Scientist Face-to-Face Interaction program organized by the Rice Research Station, Vytila. Dr. P.A. Vikas, Subject Matter Specialist at KVK, elucidated on the potential integration of fish farming alongside Pokkali paddy cultivation. During the interface, Dr. Vikas provided technical insights and addressed farmers’ inquiries regarding the practices of farming Milk fish, Mullet, Asian Seabass, and Pearlspot within the Pokkali farming system. His expertise shed light on the practicalities and challenges associated with incorporating diverse fish species into Pokkali paddy farming. The program facilitated meaningful exchanges between farmers and scientists, fostering knowledge-sharing and enhancing the understanding of sustainable agricultural practices within the Pokkali farming community.
