In celebration of the International Year of Millets, Ernakulam KVK hosted a vibrant Food Festival featuring a delectable fusion of Millet and Fish dishes from December 28 to 30 at ICAR-CMFRI, Kochi. The festival aimed to promote the inclusion of nutritionally rich millets and locally popular fish dishes in the daily diets of the local community, offering a harmonious blend of flavors and a healthful combination of protein and carbohydrates. Open from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, the festival provided a unique opportunity for attendees to savor authentic millet-based meals, delightful millet-fish combinations, and a variety of snacks during lunch, dinner, and snacking hours.
Operated by distinguished entities such as The Society for Assistance to Fisherwomen, The Hotel and Restaurants Association of Kerala, The Kerala Bakery Association, M/s Navya Bakery, Kochi, M/s Anugraha Caterers, Varappuzha, Mahalakshmi Swayam Sahaya Sangam, Belagavi, Karnataka (promoted by KVK-Belagavi), and Satyanarayana food products, Mahalakshmi SHG, Hulkotti, Gadag, Karnataka (promoted by KVK-Gadag), the food stalls showcased a diverse range of products.
The menu featured Millet-fish Cutlet, Sagara Sadhya, Millet-Fish Biryani, Millet Laddu, Ragi Ambili, Ragi soup, Sorghum Roti, Millet Manchurian, Foxtail Millet Holige, Onion Millet Pakoda, Bajra Roti, Joladh Vadai, Jowar Kadubu, Bisibelle Bath, Talipattu, Ragi Halwa, Sorghum Paddu, Navane Hollige, Millet Mirchi, Millet, and more. Beyond celebrating culinary diversity, the festival aimed to encourage the integration of millets into daily meals for a healthier lifestyle.
