The KVK Ernakulam celebrated Kisan Diwas as part of the Swatchhta Pakhwada on 23rd December 2022 at Karumaloor, Ernakulam. A Karimeen fest was also organized where traditional dishes prepared from Karimeen were showcased and quality seeds distributed. Shri Ullas Thomas, District Panchayat President, inaugurated the program while Smt. Devi Sudhi, Ward member, Karumaloor Grama Panchayath presided over. The program was organized in collaboration with KVK Karimeen Vithulpadaka sangham, a farmer’s collective that produces and supplies quality Karimeen seeds under KVK’s technology backstopping. Dr. Vikas P A, Subject Matter Specialist (Fisheries) explained the activities done by the farmers’ group and KVK’s role in their entrepreneurship development. Progressive farmers Shri Bose (Fish farming), Smt Ratnavally Sreedharan (Dairy) and Shri T V Sabu (Vegetable) were felicitated.
