In a significant collaboration, KVK Ernakulam partnered with the Koratty Service Cooperative Bank’s Malsyadhan initiative, marking its participation in a seminar held on April 30th, 2024. The Malsyadhan project, bolstered by NABARD funding, is geared towards elevating the marketability of inland farmers’ produce, with a specific focus on securing premium prices through the Koratty Mart. Drawing farmers from three panchayats, the event served as a platform for robust discussions. Dr. P.A. Vikas, Subject Matter Specialist-Fisheries at KVK Ernakulam, led a seminar that delved into the future trajectory of inland aquaculture. Farmers voiced concerns regarding challenges such as escalating feed costs, seed quality deficiencies, and marketing hurdles. In response, the bank unveiled plans to facilitate the purchase of farmers’ produce for subsequent marketing endeavors through the proposed mart.
