On 4th December 2024, KVK Ernakulam hosted a group of 30 farmers and 10 staff members from the Kollengode block of Palakkad district as part of the ATMA SCPSC 2024-25 initiative. Recognizing KVK Ernakulam’s expertise in fish farming, the visit was organized to introduce participants to successful inland fish farming models.
Dr. P.A. Vikas, SMS Fisheries, delivered an insightful session on the immense potential of inland fish culture in regions like Kollengode. The farmers explored small-scale fish farming models for species such as Channa striata (striped snakehead), Tilapia, and Pacu.
The visit also included an interaction with KVK partner farmer Shri. Anil Augustin at his farm in Elookkara, where he shared his practical experiences and best practices in fish farming, offering valuable insights to the visiting farmers.
