Two outstanding farmers associated with Ernakulam KVK, Shri. Joseph Shibu and Shri. Shyam Sundar, received prestigious awards at the International Fisheries Congress & Expo 2024. The event, hosted by the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies in collaboration with the College of Fisheries Panangad Alumni Association, spanned from January 12th to 14th, 2024. The recognition of these farmers, guided and technologically supported by KVK, highlights the significant collaboration between the farmers and the center.
Shri. Joseph Shibu, a trailblazer in cage fish farming, was recognized as the Cage Farmer awardee. His noteworthy contribution includes being the first in the country to engage in live fish vending, setting a benchmark for fellow cage farmers. Shri. Shibu has played a pivotal role as a mentor and guide for many in the cage farming community.
Shri. Shyam Sundar, an accomplished integrated Pokkali fish and shrimp farmer, was presented with the Shrimp Farmer award. His recent accolade also includes the Millionaire Farmer award, highlighting his significant achievements in the field. Shri. Shyam’s dedication and innovative approaches have contributed to the success and sustainability of Pokkali fish and shrimp farming.
